News & Events

Check this page for upcoming events such as group photo shoots where special packages may be offered and/or no sitting fee charged.  I will also post upcoming trips I may be taking, especially beach or mountain trips, where you could book a session without paying my traveling expenses.  I may also do a group shoot at the Botanical Gardens in Clemson in the Spring.  Look for an update in February or March.

Carolina Lightning Baseball

Expect to see lots of baseball photos this spring and summer.  My son Evan recently started playing travel baseball with a newly formed team in Williamston, SC.  After getting rained out twice, we finally played in our first tournament April 4-5, 2009 and won third place.  Evan played short stop and made the first run of the tournament/season (pictured above left).  Above right he's making an easy out.  Click here to see more photos from the tournament and follow our progress.  I can't wait to get enough pictures to create a poster-sized composite that includes all the players and other info about the team.

Julia & John Woodson

The 2009 wedding season started off with a very special one.  Julia and John Woodson were married on March 15, 2009, at Grace Episcopal Church in Anderson, SC.  John is my husband's first cousin and is currently the program coordinator of the Radio and Television Broadcasting department at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, SC.  He may be better known as the former morning radio host at WRIX in Anderson, SC.  Through his current and former employment, I'm sure John could have had his choice of photographers.  I am honored that he trusted me with preserving such an important event in photographs.  I'm still working on them (I want them to be perfect), but here's a sample.  The ceremony was very special and definitely reflected John's unique personality and sense of humor.  I'm still getting to know Julia, but welcome to the family!

Class of May 2009

In February we photographed our seventh class of graduating nurses at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, SC.  This will be our third year of providing photographs to the graduating classes of RNs and LPNs for their board applications, not only at Tri-County Tech, but also at the Fred Hamilton Career Center in Seneca, SC.  In addition to individual  portraits, we also design a composite (sample coming soon) that includes all the students and provide a large framed version for displaying in the department at no cost to the college.  If you have a similar need, call us for a price quote.

January 2009

We’re excited to announce "Product of the Month." Each month we will be offering a different product at a greatly reduced price and in some cases, like the Mini File CD, products that are not offered at other times of the year. In some cases, the products are offered only on sessions that occur within that month (Spring Fever Special) while most may be purchased from past sessions (within one year).

Reflections on 2008 Reflections on 2008

As this year draws to a close, I wanted to take a few moments to reflect back on the past year.  2008 was a busy year for me photography-wise and also in my personal life.  As many of you know, my dad had been very sick this year spending many months in the hospital before losing his battle with lung disease in October.  My sister, who had taken care of him for the past six years, or I stayed with him 24/7 and rarely left him alone during those months.  This is a photo of him tending to one of his roses taken just before he got sick.  He loved pictures and took photos of everyone who came to visit him during his illness with the little digital camera I bought him for Christmas a few years ago.  Maybe one day I can compile his photographs into a book of memories.  He would like that.

In addition to helping take care of Daddy, I worked full-time at court reporting and continued to study and build my photography business.  This year I did three weddings (including one double wedding), four classes of nurses, one bridal portrait, one family reunion, one two-day fundraiser that included twenty-three families, two children's birthday parties, numerous babies, children, adults, and many sporting events.  I already have four weddings booked for next year, so I know 2009 will be a busy one as well.

In closing, I just wanted to thank all my friends and family who tolerate a camera in their face all the time.  I appreciate your letting me practice my skills on you.  Don't expect me to let up anytime soon.

Annie & Tom's Wedding

We shot Annie & Tom's wedding on December 6, 2008, in Greenville, SC, at the Berea First Baptist Church.  Annie was a beautiful bride and she and Tom are obviously in love (see all the pictures here).  Being an artist herself, the reception was held at the Village Studios and Gallery.   The ceremony was very sweet with the entire congregation singing The Irish Prayer.  They participated in a sand ceremony using red, green and white sand to match her chosen colors.   We wish Annie & Tom all the best in their new life together.

March of Dimes Fundraiser Shoot March of Dimes Fundraiser Shoot

The weekend of November 7 & 8, 2008, we did a fundraiser shoot at a location here in Anderson for the March of Dimes.  Twenty-three families came out to participate and have their portraits taken.  The location was beautiful (view the photos here) although most didn't realize how beautiful until they received their prints.  Some have reported being asked, "Where in the mountains did you have these made?"  Shuss .... it's our little secret.  Hopefully, we'll do it again next year at the same spot.   I'd love to do some horse-and-buggy photos on one of the days to change it up a little.  If anyone knows anyone in the area with a horse and buggy, please put me in touch with them.

Sunny Owens Wells Sunny Owens Wells

October 4, 2008 - Sunny called me just two weeks before the big day frantic that she had not been able to get her bridal portrait session rescheduled and was afraid she would end up with no portrait to display at her reception.  (As I was a guest to the wedding, she had hired another photographer so I could enjoy the wedding along with her other guests.)  I assured her that we could do it over the weekend, order it on Monday and it should be back a week before the wedding.  Although this was not her chosen portrait (see the others here), I just love this pose.  By the way, the 16 x 20 canvas print arrived with time to spare.  It was perfect for the frame she had already chosen and was the frosting on top of a beautiful outdoor wedding at the Newbern Plantation in Pendleton, SC.  Even though I was a guest, I still carried my camera along and took a few photos for my portfolio.  I just can't help myself.
